The Willbrook Plantation pool and clubhouse will remain closed for the time being due to the following reasons:
1. Insurance will not cover costs associated with a pandemic – whether it be related to someone having contracted COVID-19 or the legal defense costs necessary to defend the HOA against such a claim. The association’s attorney and insurance agent both recommended remaining closed at this time. 2. There has been an alarming increase in COVID-19 cases the past few weeks in Georgetown and Southern Horry counties. This is not the time to offer spaces that encourage groups to congregate.
The Board will continue to monitor local conditions and resources.
Please stay safe and healthy!
Sincerely, Willbrook Plantation Board of Directors
Security Committee Update
Back gate upgrade, new camera systems +
Very shortly work will begin on the back gates to replace the gate operators and swing arms. The gates themselves will be remounted with new ball bearing hinges and the gates will be refurbished and strengthened. The gates and gate operators are 17 years old and are increasingly failing and costing us money to maintain and repair them.
After the back gate project is completed, new digital cameras including new aluminum posts will be installed at the front and back gates. This update is simply to replace outdated equipment and provide better video quality to our security staff (improved security). In addition a new communication system will be installed between the back gate and the guardhouse.
TEM Systems/Gatehouse Solutions will be the contractor for the projects. There should be minimal interruption for residents. The back gates may have to be closed for one or two days during the install. Waccamaw Management will ensure that notice of any gate closure is sent to the community via email in advance. These projects were budgeted (forecasted Reserve funds) for this year and will come in well under budget! Great work by the Security Committee, Mark Curtiss, Dennis McAlpine and Dennis Ochal
